LOWER SHOSHONE – Flows are around 2000 cfs. Water clarity is marginal at best but you could probably catch some trout on the edges with big, dark nymphs, San Juan worms and streamers. It will most likely be awhile before the reservoir settles out and the river clarity improves substantially.
BIG HORN / WIND – Flows are around 6500 cfs and are too high to float under the bridges below 8th Street. Fishing the edges and soft water has been good. Worms, leeches, crawdads and streamers. Flies to use include: San Juan worms, yuk bugs, thin mints, zirdles, cowbell crawfish, perdigons, sow bugs, caddis, chubbies, Duracells, pine squirrel leeches, sparkle minnows, Goldies, Swim Coaches and Jawbreakers.
NORTH FORK – Water clarity is great all the way down to the reservoir and fishing has been good. Still catching most under a bobber but we’re starting to catch some trout on dry/dropper rigs as well. Flies to use include: Chubbies, caddis, Yuk bugs, Rubber Legs, Halfbacks, 20 Inchers, Mega Princes, Two Bit Stone, CDC Stone, TJ Hookers, Deep Cleaners, Thin Mints, Hustlers, Duracells and Copper Johns.
SOUTH FORK – Flows are dropping and the river above Twin Crrek looks great. The lower river is still a little off color. Golden stones and caddis are out in the Valley section. Flies to use include: Chubbies, caddis. Pat’s Rubber legs, 20 Inchers, Two Bit Stones, CDC Stones, Thin Mints, San Juan worms, soft hackle pheasant tails, Hustlers, Possie Buggers, Duracells, Goldies, Rusty Trombones and Jawbreakers.
CLARK’S FORK – Finally starting to clear up on the lower end. The upper river, including Crandall, Sunlight and Dead Indian Creek are clear. Flies to use include: Chubbies, Water Walkers, caddis, Pat’s Rubber legs, scaddis, oft hackle pheasant tails, San Juan worms, Duracells, prince nymphs, copper johns, worms, perdigons, Hare’s Ears and streamers.
GREYBULL / WOOD – Flows and clarity are beginning to improve. They’re both still high but fishable. Flies to use include: Chubbbies, caddis. Pat’s rubber legs, soft hackles pheasant tails, San Juan worms, Duracells, prince nymphs, Copper Johns, Hare’s Ears and perdigons.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Salmonflies, Golden Stones, caddis and yellow sallies on the Yellowstone above the falls. The NE Corner (Lamar, Slough, Soda Butte) are starting to come into shape. Callibaetis are coming off on Yellowstone Lake.
NEWTON LAKES – Chironomids, callibaetis, damsels, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
LUCE/HOGAN RESERVOIRS – Chironomids, callibaetis, damsels, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
SUNSHINE RESERVOIRS – Chironomids, callibaetis, damsels, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
