LOWER SHOSHONE – Flows are 1100 cfs and fishing has been good! Hoppers, caddis, tricos and PMD’s on top. Drop beadhead nymphs like Copper Johns and pheasant tails. Stripping leeches and streamers has been successful too.
BIG HORN / WIND – Flows are 1200 and the trout have been big this summer! Tricos, hoppers, worms, leeches, crawdads, crane flies and streamers.
NORTH FORK – Fishing has been hit and miss up in the forest as most of the trout have returned to the reservoir. Look for more consistent fishing down by the reservoir. Hoppers, ants, beetles, and caddis on top. Drop beadhead caddis nymphs, pheasant tails and small rubber leg stones.
SOUTH FORK – The Valley section has been fishing well. Hoppers, ants, beetles and caddis on top. Drop beadhead caddis nymphs, pheasant tails and small rubber leg stones.
CLARK’S FORK – Hoppers, nocturnal stones and caddis on top. Drop stonefly nymphs like rubber legs, twenty inchers and crane fly larva. Beadhead nymphs in sizes 12-16 are working as well. Don’t forget your streamers!
GREYBULL / WOOD – Small chubbies, water walkers, hoppers, ants, beetles, hippie stompers, caddis, parachute adams, stimulators, as well as other attractors. Smaller stonefly and mayfly nymphs plus general beadheads if you’re fishing subsurface.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Hatches are drakes and baetis on Slough and Soda Butte Creeks, as well as the Lamar River. Hoppers, ants and beetles will still be important as well. The Upper Yellowstone will have fewer and fewer fish in it as the summer wanes but look for risers with baetis, hoppers and ants.
NEWTON LAKES – Both lakes are incredibly full. Midges, scuds, damsels and leeches.
LUCE / HOGAN RESERVOIRS – Scuds, damsels, leeches, midges, hoppers, ants, and beetles.
