LOWER SHOSHONE – Flows are 2300 cfs. With the reservoir not terribly muddy though, we should be back on the Lower sooner than normal this summer.
BIG HORN / WIND – Flows are 1400 and fishing has been really good! Yellow sallies, pmd’s, tricos, lightning bugs, sow bugs, scuds, hoppers, worms, leeches, crawdads, crane flies and streamers.
NORTH FORK – Water clarity is great all the way down to the reservoir and fishing has been good despite some higher flows! Green drakes, yellow sallies, golden stones and caddis are popping. Big heavy flies in the soft water like purple rubber legs, zirdles, yuk bugs, mega princes, purple twenty inchers, golden stones, and half backs have been producing. Lots of beadhead nymphs like Bloody Marys, Copper Johns, Duracells, two bit stones, possie buggers, prince nymphs, worms and eggs will work as well. Streamers such as jawbreakers, thin mints, rusty trombones, goldies and Swim Coaches. Don’t be afraid to try a big hopper or golden stone on top and go heavy on the tippet! 0x-2x!
SOUTH FORK – Flows are still pretty high but it’s fishable…same flies as the North Fork.
CLARK’S FORK – Dropping and clear. Stoneflies, caddis, and hoppers on top. Drop big stonefly nymphs like rubber legs, twenty inchers and mega princes. Beadhead nymphs in sizes 12-16 should work as well. Don’t forget your streamers!
GREYBULL / WOOD – The Greybull and the Wood are clear. Golden stone nymphs and general beadheads subsurface. Small chubbies, water walkers, stimulators, caddis, yellow sallies as well as attractors on top.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – The west side of the park is starting to warm up. If you must fish the Firehole or Madison, look for heads up on caddis early and late. The Gibbon, however, should really be coming into shape, especially in the meadows above the falls. The NE corner is starting to fish well. Expect to see pmd’s, caddis, salmonflies, and grey drakes. Ants, beetles and hoppers should work as well. Yellowstone Lake has been fishing great with callibaetis, leeches and streamers.
NEWTON LAKES – Both lakes are incredibly full. Midges, scuds, damsels and leeches.
LUCE / HOGAN RESERVOIRS – Scuds, damsels, leeches, midges, hoppers, ants, and beetles.
