LOWER SHOSHONE – Flows are around 4700 cfs. Water clarity is marginal at best. It will most likely be awhile before the reservoir settles out and the river clarity improves substantially.
BIG HORN / WIND – Flows are around 7500 cfs and are too high to float under the bridges below 8th Street. Fish the edges and any soft water. Worms, leeches, crawdads and streamers. Flies to use include: San Juan worms, yuk bugs, thin mints, zirdles, cowbell crawfish, perdigons, sow bugs, caddis, chubbies, Duracells, pine squirrel leeches, sparkle minnows, Goldies, Swim Coaches and Jawbreakers.
NORTH FORK – The entire river is now open to fishing! Water clarity is better above Newton Creek but is fishable all the way down to Elks Fork. Fishing has been good the last week. Few golden stones popping. Focus on the deeper, slower water. Flies to use include: Yuk bugs, Rubber Legs, Halfbacks, 20 Inchers, Mega Princes, Two Bit Stone, CDC Stone, TJ Hookers, Deep Cleaners, Thin Mints, Hustlers, Duracells and Copper Johns.
SOUTH FORK – Flows are dropping and the upper river by Valley is fishable but still off color. Flies to use include: Pat’s Rubber legs, 20 Inchers, Two Bit Stones, CDC Stones, Thin Mints, San Juan worms, soft hackle pheasant tails, Hustlers, Possie Buggers, Duracells, Goldies, Rusty Trombones and Jawbreakers.
CLARK’S FORK – Salmon flies and yellow sallies are out and water clarity is marginal but is better above Paint and Pat O’Hara Creeks on the lower river. Up in the forest, Sunlight, Dead Indian and Crandall Creek are all fishable. Flies to use include: Chubbies, Water Walkers, Pat’s Rubber legs, soft hackle pheasant tails, San Juan worms, Duracells, prince nymphs, copper johns, worms, perdigons, Hare’s Ears and streamers.
GREYBULL / WOOD – Flows and clarity have been on a roller coaster with the recent rains. The Wood and other tributaries are better options if you give it a shot as they usually clear up before the Greybull. Flies to use include: Pat’s rubber legs, soft hackles pheasant tails, San Juan worms, Duracells, prince nymphs, Copper Johns, Hare’s Ears and perdigons.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Salmonflies, Golden Stones, and yellow sallies on the Yellowstone above the falls. The NE Corner (Lamar, Slough, Soda Butte) are starting to come into shape. Caddis and stoneflies on the Firehole, Gibbon and Madison. Callibaetis are starting to come off on Yellowstone Lake.
NEWTON LAKES – Chironomids, callibaetis, damsels, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
LUCE/HOGAN RESERVOIRS – Chironomids, callibaetis, damsels, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
SUNSHINE RESERVOIRS – Chironomids, callibaetis, damsels, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
